App Builds A Home at Orientation

We are so thankful for App State Orientation for allowing App Builds A Home to be present at different orientation events throughout the month of June. You can find us raising money at the family barbeque with a photo opportunity for incoming Mountaineers to take a picture with Yosef in a house! We are also having a student art sale on day 2 of orientation in the Student Union, with a portion of the proceeds going to App Builds A Home. Thank you again to Nikki Crees and App State Orientation, and be sure to stop by our events in June to get involved and learn more!

ASTA Benefit Concert

On April 15th the Appalachian Chapter of the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) held a benefit concert called An Evening of Strings with all proceeds going towards the App Builds a Home project. The concert was highlighted by beautiful chamber music which students, faculty, and members of the community stopped by to enjoy. We are thankful to ASTA for their support of affordable housing in Watauga County. We are also grateful to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church for providing the space to hold the concert. This concert is one of many ways the App Builds a Home project is continuing to bring the Appalachian campus and community together.

Boone Build Bowl Brawl

This is no April Fool’s Joke! On April 1st, 17 staff and faculty bowling teams, ranging from 2 people to 8 people, competed in the Boone Build Bowling Brawl at 10 High Country Lanes. All proceeds from the event benefit App Builds a Home. A total of $1088.60 was raised for the build through ticket and pizza sales! Teams played a two-game tournament for a hard hat trophy and major bragging rights. Fast BS from Business Systems won the tournament by 0.875 of a point. All other teams were awarded a sign of shame until our redemption tournament in the fall takes place. A big thank you goes out to 10 High Country Lanes, the ACT office, and the following offices:
