Barker Home

Barker Home Construction

We are in the home stretch of construction now! With the home dedication scheduled for April 25th, volunteers working on the App Builds a Home project will be working to finish the interior. Projects such as painting, installing cabinets and flooring, and landscaping will make up the majority of the work for the remainder of the build. If you are interested in helping put the finishing touches on the Barker home, you can visit this link to sign up to volunteer!

Following the Blitz Build weekend of September 21st, even more of the house has been completed! Stucco has been added around the outside of the house, some final paint touch-ups have been completed, trimwork has been added around doors and windows, construction of the decks have been completed, and plumbing and electrical has been roughed in. The project is currently waiting for the HVAC system to be installed, after which work will continue on the interior of the house and we can continue moving towards the finish line!

Construction began on the App Builds a Home project on September 21st. App Builds a Home was joined by the Habitat Roadtrip Crazies, a group of dedicated volunteers who travel up and down the East Coast providing assistance to local Habitat affiliates. Over the course of two days, we went from foundation to fully dried in - meaning walls, roof, and even some siding was completed on the house! There were over 150 volunteers present from the Appalachian State community working together to accomplish this blitz build. Check out this article for some more information on this exciting weekend.
