App Builds a Home is a unique campus-wide partnership between Appalachian State University and Watauga County Habitat for Humanity to help local partner families build safe, affordable homes. In the App State tradition of community partnerships, this home build is a tangible commitment to our community and an opportunity for a campus-wide prokect to bring together students, faculty, staff, and alumni to help build a home with a local family.
Housing affordability is a pressing issue in our community. The University takes up a lot of space, making affordable housing for local low-income families virtually inaccessible. This is our opportunity to give back to the community and make affordable housing more accessible for ALL.
Habitat for Humanity partners with communities all over the world to help build and improve affordable homes. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With this support, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability, and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and their families.
